Local Fruits in Hawaii

Aloha to exotic, fresh tropical local fruits our island grows and produces, with sugar cane, pineapple, macadamia nuts and coffee being the most valuable crops. Hawai‘i was once dominated by 14 sugar and four pineapple plantations that farmed more than 300,000 acres statewide.

If you venture around the island, you can find tasty fruits at roadside fruit stands, farmers markets (a list of them here), farm tours (Dole Plantation – fun fact: has the world’s largest maze) and local grocery stores.

Be adventurous and try a fruit you’ve never had before! Here is a breakdown of island (exotic) fruits and when they are in season, brought to you by our friends at Hawaiian Airlines
