Aloha to exotic, fresh tropical local fruits our island grows and produces, with sugar cane, pineapple, macadamia nuts and coffee being the most valuable crops. Hawai‘i was once dominated by 14 sugar and four pineapple plantations that farmed more than 300,000 acres statewide.

If you venture around the island, you can find tasty fruits at roadside fruit stands, farmers markets (a list of them here), farm tours (Dole Plantation – fun fact: has the world’s largest maze) and local grocery stores.

• FALL: Breadfruit, citrus, dragon fruit, jackfruit, passionfruit, starfruit
• WINTER: Breadfruit, citrus, longan, mangosteen, rambutan
• SPRING: Avocados, chocolate sapote, citrus, lychee, mangosteen, star apple
• SUMMER: Avocados, dragon fruit, egg fruit, jackfruit, lychee, mango, passionfruit, soursop
• YEAR-ROUND: Apple, bananas, breadfruit, coconuts, noni, papaya, pineapple

Fun Fact: Pineapple is the national fruit of Hawaii. The Dole plantation also has the world’s largest maze – the Pineapple Garden Maze.
